Do not feed the lizard

March 07, 2021

Facing a blank canvas, the resistance kicks in. Our lizard brain (scientifically known as the amygdala) takes control, doing its best to prevent us from facing the challenge.
This biological hijack is inherently natural, yet destructive.
Left unsupervised, this “mind theft” often leads to a never-ending cycle of procrastination and self doubt. A lifelong surrender to fear.

Making meaningful art is about “irrational thinking”. It’s about embracing the fear.
When doubt hits, consistency is our only way out. there is no need to anesthetize the discomfort.
If we wish to overcome the incredible strength of our personal lizard brain and create something meaningful, we must trust the process. we must show up and do the work, regularly.

Apparently, lizards bite!
Please. Don’t feed the lizard.
